BR: Este é o conceito básico para os visitantes de primeira viagem poderem entender ou ter uma noção do que encontraram neste site. Aqui encontrarão uma webcomics especial que tem como tema principal música e personalidade. Toda a temática é direcionada para um publico mais adulto ou qualquer um que goste de conhecer vários tipos de música. Também pode ser assimilado por jovens a partir de 12 anos. Entenda a forma de texto dessa História em Quadrinhos como uma coisa informal. Listen Up Music já supõe que se preste atenção na mensagem e intenção e não detalhes técnicos de arte ou texto. Se você está acostumado a quadrinhos em formatos narrativos clássicos ou tradicionais não vai encontrar isso aqui. O quanto mais diferente puder ser e o quanto mais criativo for favorável à narrativa isso será o foco básico do projeto. Inicialmente essa história foi contada como uma mini graphic novel e depois foi continuada como uma webcomics sem muitas ligações de continuidade. Futuramente existe um desejo de ser possível a adaptação em livros, animação, cinema e game.

UK: This is the basic concept for the first time visitors can understand or have an idea of what they found on this site. BR: Listen Up Music foi criado por Jairo Miguel em 1997 para um fanzine que dois amigos. O projeto básico era ter o zine de nome 2D Magazine ® para o natal de 1997. As duas histórias principais da revista eram Listen Up de autoria própria e "O Garoto Juca" de Ronaldo Santana.

UK: Listen Up Music was created by Jairo Miguel in 1997 for a fanzine that two friends. The basic design was to have the name zine 2D Magazine ® for Christmas 1997. The two main stories of the magazine were Listen Up by the author and "O Garoto Juca" by Ronaldo Santana.

BR: Para criação conceitual de Listen Up usei um rascunho que tinha feito depois de um sonho um mês antes da idéia do zine. O sonho, incrivelmente ao meu ver, foi uma espécie de premonição de idéias que acabaram sendo apresentadas em algumas mídias que assistia anos depois. Em 1997 eu estava descobrindo a história de um dos melhores movimentos musicais de rock vindo da Inglaterra no momento. Nesse ano estava para ser lançado o disco mais esperado em anos que era "Be Here Now" da banda inglesa Oasis. Depois disso tido virou história em UK.

Noel Gallagher, líder da banda, praticamente mostrou há quanto tempo o mundo pop estava defecando na cabeça das pessoas com música fútil e que coisas simples fazem o mesmo pop chegar perto das épocas atualmente clássicas na história da música contemporânea como Beatles, Beach Boys ou Os Mutantes. No caso do Oasis a maior influência são esses criadores dos anos 60´s e 70´s. Historicamente alguns fatores desvirtuaram muitas coisas na música a partir do final dos anos 70´s a início dos 80´s. Como ele mesmo disse "Where Did It All Go Wrong?".

Com isso na cabeça posso até dizer que mesmo com as minhas dificuldades de consumir discos na época, denuncio que meu primeiro disco na vida foi o Insóniac do Green Day e hoje tenho mais de mil materias "baratos" de música desde Josephine Baker passando por Oingo Boingo , Anathema , Meredith Baker , Tom Jobim , King Crimson , Happy Mondays, Frank Zappa, Curtis Maynfild até músicas de Chabrier , material original e oficial, pois pegar coisas na net é tão fácil quanto dar valor ao que tem. Algumas coisas em vinil e em CD. Mas atualmente e infelizmente as coisas mudam e continuei a colecionar e conhecer coisas novas com a Internet. As coisas realmente mudam. E novidade saudável às vezes não faz mal a ninguém. Esse sentimento de paixão a música que acabei sendo possuído foi a grande inspiração para a criação de Listen Up, tendo mais força com influência pela música Inglesa no geral e de bases tradicionais.

UK: To create conceptual Listen Up used a draft that had a dream after one month before the idea of the zine. The dream, incredibly in my view, was a kind of premonition of ideas that were eventually presented in some media that watched years later. BR: Em 1997, no Brasil, eu, dizer aos meus amigos que gostava de Oasis era um tanto vergonhoso, pois quanto mais eu gostava mais uma parte importante da mídia mundial falava mal da banda fazendo todos terem uma completa descriminação pela mesma. Nessa época que comecei a descobrir a manipulação da mídia e o que era louvável e o que era descartável no jornalismo mundial. Acabei com isso observando e sentindo na pele uma "exclusão amigável e social” , como nunca fui "maria vai com as outras" acabei me distanciando em "presença de espírito" dos que trabalhei e amigos, sempre estive ao lado deles, mas sabia que com o tempo os caminhos não seriam os mesmos. Isso tudo ajudou a observar o relacionamento das pessoas entre si e acabei enfatizando na História a rivalidade de gostos pessoais ou o desentendimento das pessoas pelo que elas mais gostam, e vendo que pela formação cultural de cada um, se acomodando aos seus gostos e se unindo aos que se assemelham e inconscientemente se distanciando aos de contrariam, fazendo da sociedade uma coisa que nunca será unida ou verdadeiramente integrada e sim falsamente integrada. Existe no mundo a desigualdade econômica e eu vou mais longe com a desigualdade cultural entre pessoas.

BR: Listen Up é o que ocorre quando se esnoba ou discrimina as diferenças, queira goste ou não. É mencionar o choque de culturas numa sociedade que poucas pessoas assimilam, levando em conta a música como símbolo maior.

Isso seria a filosófica do projeto. O ponto central decorrente é o objetivo de um jovem raquítico com características européias vivendo uma fantasia entre Rio de Janeiro e grandes cidades mundiais como New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Honk Kong e principalmente Inglaterra como estética mais influente. O maior desejo ao tentar conhecer todo tipo de música é encontrar, se possível, a música perfeita para tudo.

As características do personagem principal são mesmas, o visual Britânico, que eu acho interessante, e a maior de todas o nariz, que é um tanto avantajado em um jovem, isso foi uma maneira de homenagear todos os “narigudos” do mundo, aqui como referencia artista. Uma certa protuberância que sempre me chamou a atenção, pessoas geniais e com um nariz grande ou exótico. Como sempre, em meus personagens, gosto de seguir caminhos diferentes dos clichês acabei achando uma idéia de colocar este principal com o nariz chamativo.

UK: Listen Up is what happens when you shun or discriminate the differences, please like it or not. You mention the clash of cultures in a society that few people assimilate, considering music as a major symbol.

That would be the philosophical project. The key result is the goal of a gaunt young man with European features living in a fantasy between Rio de Janeiro and large cities like New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Hong Kong and England especially as most influential aesthetic. Os meios de como ele vai transitar de uma cidade para a outra você saberá no decorrer da História, e o fato de escolher estas cidades tem muito á ver com simbolizarem ou no passado ou atualmente os pontos de importância não só musical, mas cultural. E também pelo fato de eu morar no Rio e ter as referencias próximas, admirando movimentos culturais ingleses à distância. O Rio com sua eterna tradição do Chorinho e Samba que nunca inovam muito e cidades da Inglaterra com suas revoluções e inovações constantes. E também tradições geniais na música. Mas isso não quer dizer que músicas de outros lugares não serão vistas aqui, o importante é que em Listen Up tudo sobre musica e cultura esta em um mundo especial musical para dar como exemplo um foco central da história.

Não me comparando, mas tendo como principal influência ou objetivo de qualidade, almejo chegar a um Calvin, genial história em Cartoon criada por Bill Waterson, misturado com The Little Nemo, a melhor história em Cartoon de todas criadas no inicio do século 20 por Winsor McCay. Estes são meus pontos de inspiração para criar as paginas de Listen Up Music. Só que influência é o objetivo, pois Listen Up Music não tem absolutamente nada a ver com essas duas criações americanas. Existe sim um certo universo fantástico em Listen Up Music onde o principal personagem se encontra de alguma forma entre as grandes cidades ao mesmo tempo e seus sentimentos são representados por três figuras "mitológicas", para a história, que o protegem e cuidam de seu estado psicológico. Essas figuras são muitos raras na vida do pequeno jovem na busca do conhecimento musical.

DIREÇÃO A SEGUIR/DRIVING FORWARD

BR: Para quem conhece música e gosta de filmes sobre música, o sentimento que se tem ao ver um trecho do filme “Quase Famosos” (na parte em que o garotinho abre uma bolsa que a irmã dera cheia de discos, seguido dele colocando uma das melhores partes do disco Tommy da banda The Who) é o mesmo que gostaria de proporcionar em Listen Up Music, tentar passar para o papel aquela vibração que tive ao ver o filme. E coisas muito mais fortes, além disso. No final de 2000 conheci um projeto chamado Gorillaz na Internet e quase desisti de tentar fazer alguma coisa com Listen Up Music, pois pensava que não valia mais a pena tentar isto já que via a minha frente uma obra-prima visual e até um tanto legal musicalmente, mas, com o tempo vendo que o projeto musical era encabeçado por Dammon Albaran da banda Inglesa Blur eu presenciei uma direção nos projetos deles que não tem nada a ver com o meu, é como se os Gorillaz preferissem fazer a musica das Spice Girls enquanto eu se fosse fazer música de Listen Up Music eu faria um Medeski, Martin & Wood , Yes fase Rick Wakeman ou até Ed Mota fase Dwitza. O artista Jamie Hewlett criador do visual do Gorillaz é quase imbatível sua arte é maravilhosamente brilhante, mas se eu seguir minhas diretrizes acho que chegarei a algo tão bom quanto o Gorillaz, pelo menos isso. O que quero é absolutamente diferente do Gorillaz.

Gostaria de fazer um curta de Listen Up Music em Animação Full, mas isso não vou prometer, ao certo as HQ serão feitas com o esforço grande e pessoal. Você que está lendo isso deve estar se indagando que o publico que almejo é uma elite. Certo que é, mas eu não acredito que outras mais humildes não possam ter a capacidade de assimilar tais coisas em Listen Up Music, pois são contextos sobre relações entre pessoas e isso é humano. E na minha opinião como autor é melhor fornecer uma cultura para os menos afortunados do que entregar qualquer coisa de baixa qualidade conceitual pra ganhar dinheiro em cima. Pois no final das contas isso volta para você em forma de violência ou morte por conflitos sociais. Ao meu ver todos os problemas do povo humilde têm a ver com falta de cultura geral. O mínimo que posso fazer com meu desenho é tentar dar alguma cultura ou fornecer um novo ponto de vista aos que já tem auto destrutivo ou acomodado.

BR: Para este website pretendo produzir as páginas de Listen Up Music uma vez por semana no máximo possível. Os formatos destas páginas são proporcionados a um método de histórias em Cartoon que quase não existe mais que é mais bem representada nas páginas de "The Little Nemo" ou no Brasil bem representado por Miguel Paiva com sua "Radical Chic" . As demais produções ficarão ao cargo do tempo e disponibilidade de serem feitas Histórias grandes e fechadas contando melhor o fato na vida do personagem principal ou personagens relacionado a ele. Ou contos especiais ou a novela completa.

Só tenho a agradecer por você leitor ter chegado aqui a espero que gosto do que faço, mesmo não gostando agradeço pelo interesse que já é melhor do que nada. Muito obrigado por tudo.
